NFL Week 2 Grades: Eagles, Bills earn high marks for dominating ‘Monday Night Football’ performance

There’s a reason why Cleveland is known as the ‘Factory of Grief’. Browns Arguably more improbable losses than any other team in NFL history and they took a 30-17 lead on Sunday to add one more to their heartbreaking total New York Jets In just 85 seconds.

With 1:55 left to play on Sunday, Nick Chubb scored a touchdown to top the Browns 30-17 and it looked like Cleveland was going to coast for the win, but when you hit the Browns Talking about, there is no such thing as marching towards victory.

In a surprising turn of events, the Jets scored two touchdowns only 60 seconds apart, allowing them to win 31–30. If you’re wondering how unlikely the loss was, here’s your answer.

For the most part, Brown played an impressive game, but he could not overcome six major mistakes, all of which occurred in the final two minutes.

The biggest one came from Chub, who could have sealed the win if he had fallen to the ground instead of scoring a TD with only 1:55. Had he done so, the game would have been over as the run put Cleveland in first place and the Jets had zero time left.

We’ve seen the running back go down the 1-yard line before, but Chub didn’t do it here. Even if he had gone out of bounds, the Browns could still kneel down the ball three straight times to take the win.

The big mistake that Brown made wasn’t the only big mistake. Last week’s hero for Brown, Cade York, certainly wasn’t the hero this week. The Browns could have had 31 points at the end of the game, but York missed the extra point after Chubb’s touchdown. The missed kick put the Browns ahead by only 13 points, helping to open the door for the Jets to return.

York and Chubb’s mistakes didn’t matter if the Browns defense didn’t drop a lengthy touchdown, which brings us to mistake number three: The Browns somehow left Corey Davis open for a 66-yard touchdown.

,Comment: Ignore the NFL info in the tweet, it was a 66-yard score, not 76.)

Even after Joe Flacco hit Davis with 1:22 to cut Cleveland’s lead to 30-24, the Browns still could have won by recovering the Jets’ onside kick, but instead, we got the mistake number. Got four. Onside kick from the Jets, the ball went out of the hands of Amari Cooper and went into the hands of Justin Hardy of New York.

After recovering nine plays, the Jets would score a go-forward touchdown with a 15-yard pass from Flaco to Garrett Wilson (missing TD was mistake number five).

Even after falling behind, the Browns still had a chance to win. With six seconds left, Brown was in his 46th position and needed about eight to 10 yards to give York a realistic shot of a field goal. However, York never got a chance to win the game as Jacobi Brissette threw an interception for mistake number six.

It was a total meltdown in a sport in which the Browns had no business. His ‘F-‘ performance in the final two minutes totally marred the fact that he actually played pretty good football for the better part of three quarters.
